LeBron James has made it clear that he chose the Philadelphia 76ers because they have a great chance of winning a title.

James turned down an emotional return to either the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Miami Heat in favor of the star-studded 76ers.

The 41-year-old could even have teamed up with arch-rival Stephen Curry and close friend Draymond Green in Golden State.

But James is determined to bring a championship to Philadelphia for the first time since Julius Erving’s team over 40 years ago.

And with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown and VJ Edgecombe on the roster, winning a title certainly feels possible.

Although many already consider him the greatest player of all time, a fifth ring would also improve LeBron’s GOAT case.

NBA Analysis Network names three NBA records James could break if he wins a championship in Philadelphia.

LeBron James to make NBA history if the 76ers win a title

1. First NBA player to win a championship with four different teams

LeBron James is one of four players to have won an NBA title with three different franchises (Cavaliers, Heat and Lakers).

The 41-year-old shares the record with Robert Horry, John Salley and former Lakers teammate Danny Green.

If James wins another championship with the 76ers, he would become the only player to have won one with four different teams.

This incredible feat would prove LeBron right for taking his unusual career path rather than sticking with one or two teams.

2. First NBA player to win a Finals MVP with four different teams

Four-time champion LeBron James is already the only NBA player ever to win the Finals MVP award with three different franchises.

James has won the award every time his team has won the championship—a run that will be difficult to continue in Philadelphia.

He may no longer be capable of winning the Finals MVP ahead of Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey.

However, far-fetched records have never been an issue for LeBron, and this one would be unlikely to be broken anytime soon.

3. Oldest Finals MVP in NBA history

If LeBron James turns back the clock and leads the 76ers to a championship, he could become the oldest Finals MVP ever.

The legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38 years and 54 days) holds the current record for his performance for the Lakers in 1985.

LeBron turns 42 in December, which means he would beat Kareem’s record by over four years if he won Finals MVP this season.

However, James would not become the oldest champion in NBA history, as that record belongs to 43-year-old Robert Parish.
