The last few years have been huge for indie games. More and more seem to be going viral, building huge player bases in an instant. We’ve seen it with the likes of Peak, Schedule 1, and, most recently, How to Fish, which peaked at almost 270,000 players over the weekend.
There is definitely something to be said about how players are flocking to smaller, more unique experiences, and this next one takes that to the extreme.
Over the weekend, a developer shared a game in which players need to sort through a haystack containing five million pieces of hay to find a single needle.

Over the weekend, a new video advertising one of the most bonkers games went viral. Shared by developer NasNakarus, this now-in-development title challenges players to sift through five million pieces of hay to find a needle in a haystack. It’s a saying we’ve all heard, and now it can be a reality.
The trailer quickly gained over 46 million views on Twitter, receiving over 189,000 likes, 10,000 reposts, and 3,000 comments: The definition of a viral sensation.
Its developer promised that the goal was to push the “absolute limits for those types of games” when referring to “meditative, repetitive” titles.
While limited other details are known, Nas teased a few of the features in the comments, which included a multiplayer mode, perfect for the wave of ever-popular “friendslop” titles, and a range of tools, including a shovel, basket, and a leaf blower.
They shared that the game’s Steam page will be live soon, but after playing it themselves, they have yet to actually find the needle.
It’s the type of game that is so incredibly stupid that it’s going to be an absolute blast to play with friends. The stakes are so low, but the feeling of excitement when the needle is eventually found will be out of this world. This one is definitely going on our wishlist when it goes live.
