The Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are taking on the New England Patriots in Week 2.
Rodgers and the Steelers were on offense on the edge of the redzone in the second quarter and facing a third-and-seven. The quarterback dropped back to pass, but was nailed by Patriots defender Christian Ellis from the blindside.

At the same time, fellow defender — and former Steeler — Robert Spillane hit him from the front.
The impact was hard, and Rodgers was unable to hold onto the ball. The game then looked like a Pee Wee football game as the ball careened off the Patriots and Steelers alike, continuing farther and farther down the field.
When the dust settled, Pittsburgh offensive lineman Troy Fautanu recovered the ball. It resulted in a 36-yard loss, and the Steelers naturally punted on fourth-and-43.
New England linebacker Dre’Mont Jones initially tried to scoop the fumble but landed awkwardly on his knee after being hit by a Pittsburgh offensive lineman. After the play ended, Jones left the field and went straight to the locker room, favoring his shoulder.

This was the first time that Rodgers had been sacked in the game. The Steelers’ offense remained fairly conservative, relying on runs and short passes.
The Pittsburgh defense remains its best asset. Even after the circus-like play and good field position off the ensuing punt, the Steelers’ defense held strong and forced a punt of their own.
