Kyler Murray will be suiting up for the Minnesota Vikings this upcoming season.

On Friday, the NFL posted photos of the quarterback in his new team colors. Murray posed with a football while revealing his first look in a Ravens jersey.

“New thread for Kyler,” the caption read.

Kyler Murray began his NFL journey in 2019. The Arizona Cardinals drafted him with the first overall pick in the draft. He was immediately named as the team’s starting quarterback.

In seven seasons, Murray led the Cardinals to just one playoff appearance. That was during the 2021 season when they lost to the Los Angeles Rams in a wild-card showdown. The quarterback played in 87 games and recorded 20,460 yards and 121 TDs passing.

In 2022, Kyler Murray agreed to a five-year, $230.5 million extension with the Cardinals. Last season, Jacoby Brissett was the primary QB1 of the team. Murray suffered a foot injury in Week 5 before being placed on the injured reserve in November. He appeared in just five games and recorded 962 yards and six TDs passing.

In March, the Cardinals decided to release Murray. One day later, he joined the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year, veteran’s minimum salary. This decision was taken after the team’s underwhelming 2025 campaign under J.J. McCarthy, who was limited to 10 games due to multiple injuries.

NFL insider shares his thoughts on QB competition between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy

Coach Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings have not yet named the team’s QB1 heading into 2026. Both Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy are competing for this responsibility.

Last month, NFL insider Albert Breer stated that while the veteran QB remains the favorite as QB1, McCarthy still has a chance to prove himself.

“Most assume that Murray will win the competition, and if I had to bet, I’d agree,” Breer wrote. “But McCarthy’s got his shot now to show that with another year of experience, he’s playing with a greater and more calm command than he did a year ago, with a talented roster around him.”

The Vikings kick off the 2026 season with a Week 1 showdown at home against the Packers on Sept. 13.
