Alexandra Eala’s fans were once again in full voice at the Canadian Open, where the Filipina star reached the last 16.
Eala is having an extraordinary impact on tennis, and that was certainly evidenced during her time in Toronto.
She played singles and doubles at the WTA 1000 tournament, linking up with tennis legend Venus Williams in the latter format.
The superstar duo lost their opening match before Eala’s singles venture ended at the hands of Belinda Bencic, who now meets Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals.

Eala defeated Alycia Parks and Caty McNally, both in three sets, before suffering a 4-6, 0-6 defeat to Swiss ace Bencic.
She has now done her utmost to summarize her Canadian Open experience, sharing a heartfelt message on her social media.

Sharing images of her time at the Canadian Open, Eala first wrote in her native tongue on Instagram: “Saya pala dito sa barangay Toronto.”
She then added in English: “Difficult to put into words but very easy to be grateful for you all.
“Feeling the love in ways that I will probably only fully appreciate later.
“Thank you for allowing me to experience beyond what I know.
“I am quite the lucky one.”
She also took to her Instagram story to send a message to her doubles partner, writing: “Another amazing opportunity to share the court with one of the greatest.
“Thank you [Venus Williams]!”
It’s a lovely touch from the 21-year-old Filipina, who continues to show maturity beyond her years both on and off the court.

Alexandra Eala’s WTA rankings history after Washington title
It’s been a hugely busy period for the world number 20, who recently soared eight places to her career-high rank.
That superb achievement arrived after Eala claimed her maiden WTA title in Washington, while she is also up 11 places in the Race to the WTA Finals, currently occupying 14th spot.

Her busy run now continues at the Cincinnati Open, where she is the 17th seed and will therefore receive a bye into the second round.
She will be using that WTA 1000 tournament as final preparation for the US Open, which returns to the WTA calendar later this month.
