VRS No.10 Astralis are one loss away from elimination in Stage 2 of the IEM Cologne Major 2 following a 13-6 Nuke loss to TYLOO in the 1-1 pool.
Alarm bells are certainly ringing inside the Danish organization after the team’s third straight heavy loss on Nuke. Just like in Saturday’s 13-5 loss to 9z, Astralis looked sluggish and off the pace on the CT side and then couldn’t get much going on offense.
Love “phzy” Smidebrant and Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard struggled for impact for most of the first half, with the Swedish AWPer picking up four of his seven CT kills in the final two rounds.
A free-flowing TYLOO side romped to a 7-5 lead, and the scoreline could have been even more lopsided if it weren’t for a heroic Five-SeveN play by Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen and a late clutch from Gytis “ryu” Glušauskas.
Astralis came out swinging in the second half with a clean pistol round, but their respite proved brief. TYLOO hit back in the following round and then kept their opponents at bay for the rest of the game, with Yi “JamYoung” Yang dealing the finishing blow with a clean 4K in the final round.
