Aurora continue their BLAST Open Porto run through the group stage lower bracket with a one-sided 2-0 victory against M80, eliminating the American-German team from the competition.
Aurora got the benefit of their map pick to start the series, and got off to a 7-0 lead on the attacking side of Dust2 before M80 could respond as the two teams went back-and-forth to a 9-3 half.
AWPer Özgür “woxic” Eker led the way on the arid map, which Aurora closed out with a 4-0 second half to make it 13-3, finishing atop the board with a 2.28 rating.
XANTARES aces in B defense with dualies to kick off Inferno
The stomp continued on Inferno, where Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş, who had been quiet on Dust2, made his presence known with a Dual Berettas ace defending the B site. From there, Aurora continued to dominate with a 10-2 half.
M80 won their CT pistol round after the switch, as a crucial last-bullet headshot on B by Michael “Swisher” Schmid turned the late-round in his team’s favor, but the comeback was put to rest before it could even start, as Aurora closed it out in six rounds, 13-5.
Having eliminated M80 from contention, Aurora now march on to the Group A lower bracket final, where they are slated to face G2 in an all-or-nothing match to reach the playoffs at the Super Bock Arena in Porto.
