Carlos Alcaraz has been almost unstoppable since returning to competitive play at the end of August.
Alcaraz, a seven-time Grand Slam champion, spent several months on the sidelines after suffering a wrist injury at the Barcelona Open.
The Spaniard has recorded a 15-2 record since returning to the Tour, only losing to Ben Shelton and Zizou Bergs.
Alcaraz continued his exemplary form in Austria last week in winning the Vienna Open on debut – once again cementing his status as one of the greatest tennis players in history.
Alcaraz has often been compared to other tennis legends, including Rafael Nadal and Bjorn Borg.
Patrick Mouratoglou, the former coach of Serena Williams, believes Alcaraz’s game is comparable to one player’s game in particular
Patrick Mouratoglou believes Carlos Alcaraz plays tennis like Roger Federer
“Carlos plays just like Roger,” Mouratoglou, who is currently coaching Stefanos Tsitsipas, said in an Instagram post.
Which ATP player do you think will win the 2026 Paris Masters title?
“They have the same type of game. Incredible forehand moving around the backhand. A very complete game using everything – dropshots, sometimes return volley, quite often serve and volley, trying to dominate, taking the ball early, coming to the net.
“Who does that on Tour? Not many players. It’s very rare.
“A lot of players would technically know how to do it, but they don’t really dare doing it during the matches.
“Carlos and Roger have the same concept of tennis, of course with different styles.
“Roger is more fluid of course and he will always probably be the smoothest player that ever played. But it’s the same type of tennis, that’s what I mean.”

Alcaraz may play like Federer, but whether he can go on to match the accomplishments of the Swiss legend remains to be seen.
Federer won 20 Grand Slam titles, held the world number one ranking for 310 weeks [behind only Novak Djokovic], and won 28 Masters 1000 titles.
At 23 years old, Alcaraz has seven major titles to his name, eight Masters titles and 66 weeks at world number one.
Alcaraz could add a ninth Masters title to his résumé this week when he competes at the Paris Masters.
Alcaraz, who is due to play Alex Michelsen or Jiri Lehecka in the second round, has never advanced past the quarter-finals in Paris.

Carlos Alcaraz’s schedule after the Paris Masters
After competing in Paris, Alcaraz will travel to Turin, Italy for the season-ending ATP Finals.
Alcaraz, who is yet to win the prestigious title, reached the final of last year’s event before losing to Jannik Sinner.
The Spaniard will then make the short trip to Bologna, Italy, for the Davis Cup Finals.
Alcaraz is set to represent his nation alongside Rafael Jodar, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Pedro Martinez and Marcel Granollers.
Spain, one of the tournament favourites, are set to play Austria in the Davis Cup quarter-finals on November 26.
