Ciryl Gane does not plan to ‘just strike’ with Alex Pereira on June 14, on the South Lawn of the White House.
Gane and “Poatan” will lock horns for the interim heavyweight title next weekend, and the winner of this bout is by law expected to meet reigning 265-pound champion, Tom Aspinall later this year in a title unification bout whenever the Brit is cleared to fight again.
While fans had expected a striking fest in the UFC Freedom 250 co-main event, “Bon Gamin” has now said that he could take the fight to the ground and submit the Brazilian instead of just hunting for a knockout. During an interview with Megan Olivi, the French fighter confirmed:
“I don’t want to say it’s going to be an 100% striking match. This is MMA. Everybody knows I can do some wrestling. I can finish fights on the ground.”

Dana White exclaims that if Alex Pereira wins at UFC Freedom 250, he would jump over “Bones” and become the “greatest of all time”
Alex Pereira, a former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion and also a former middleweight titleholder, can become the first three-division UFC champion on June 14 if he gets past Ciryl Gane. Although a victory over Gane would earn “Poatan” the interim heavyweight title, it would also make history.
Reacting to that, in a recent interview with Forbes, UFC head honcho Dana White said that if “Poatan” gets his hand raised on June 14, he will then have a greater legacy than Jon Jones. White said:
“If he [Alex Pereira ] wins the third world title that night, he jumps over Jon Jones and becomes the greatest of all time.
