Former two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo returns to action against top Bantamweight prospect Payton Talbott in UFC 332’s co-main event this weekend (Sat., Oct. 3, 2026) inside Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
And “Deus da Guerra” may already be plotting his return to the division he once ruled.
During UFC 332 media day, Figueiredo revealed that he has asked UFC to send him back down to Flyweight for an opportunity to become a three-time champion against current 125-pound kingpin Joshua Van.
“Well, I’ve been asking UFC and telling them I can make that weight very easily,” Figueiredo told reporters through a Portuguese-to-English translator. “I’ve been asking them to just make the fight. I want that opportunity, and let’s see if his boxing is as good as mine.”
Of course, Figueiredo has a very hungry Talbott standing directly in front of him this weekend. The 27-year-old prospect is looking to add a former champion to his resume, but Figueiredo appears to have already decided that he wants to make one final run at Flyweight.
“Two hundred percent,” Figueiredo said when asked if he was serious about returning to 125 pounds. “It needs to happen. UFC gives me the opportunity, I go out there and knock him out.”
Seeing Figueiredo back at Flyweight would certainly be interesting, regardless of his age, if only because of the ridiculous power he carries for the division.
Nevertheless, the timing is a little strange.
That ship has sailed, and even if Figueiredo is serious about returning to 125 pounds, he will likely have to wait for No. 1 contender Manel Kape to receive his promised crack at Van.
Plus, before Figueiredo starts planning another brutal Flyweight cut, he still has Talbott ready to rock and roll in Salt Lake City.
