Longtime Call of Duty YouTuber Drift0r says he may have to quit his career as a content creator due to a mysterious condition affecting his joints and muscles.
The influencer broke the news in a tweet on May 21, where he claimed he is now down to “zero functioning joints.”
Drift0r says he has sprained both of his ankles, wrists, and elbows, as well as “multiple fingers and toes,” and even his jaw.
The YouTuber went on to say that his shoulders and hips are “barely hanging in there,” and that his spine is still broken and recovering from a previous operation.
“I think I’m running out of time,” he wrote.
In response to a concerned commenter, Drfit0r revealed that “literally nobody knows” what is happening to him, but says CT scans of his brain have come back “clean.”
“My mental health is struggling but still holding strong,” he revealed in another comment. “I will figure it out eventually.”
Thus far, the YouTuber believes it could be an autoimmune condition, but is waiting on an appointment with an immunology rheumatologist five weeks from now to rule out the possibility.
Drift0r losing ability to move and speak due to unknown medical issue
Drift0r uploaded a video diving deeper into the situation on YouTube, where he revealed that the illness is starting to impact his facial muscles, making it difficult for him to blink and speak.
“Just sitting here at my desk, keeping my arms bent on this side rest, will sprain them in a short period of time,” he said. “If I reach out and straighten my arm, it will get a minor sprain.”
He claimed that he’s tested negative for Ehlers-Dahlos syndrome and hopes his upcoming visit with a specialist will shed more light on the increasingly dire situation.
As for content, Drift0r promised fans he will make as many videos as he can while his health still allows him to, but admitted that he isn’t sure what the future holds.
“I hope this is all a nothingburger,” he continued. “And in a couple weeks I can bounce back and be more normal and talk more normal. I’ll even take ‘fairly weak.’ I just want to do some things and make some content here.”
Fans are rallying around the YouTuber in the wake of this latest update, giving him encouragement as he waits for more answers.
