WWE Superstar Finn Balor is a huge soccer fan. The Irishman appears to be keenly following the ongoing FIFA World Cup and reacted on social media before a major game.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is being hosted by three nations this time, namely the United States, Canada, and Mexico. England faced off against Mexico in the Round of 16 knockout tie yesterday, and Finn Balor reacted on social media before the ‘game of the century’ for the host nation. Interestingly, Mexico hasn’t reached the quarter-finals since 1986.

It is no secret that the English and the Irish don’t always see eye to eye, and Balor, who has performed in Mexico’s CMLL during his NJPW days, has an old connection with the country. Lately, he had also been showing his support for Mexico and was even spotted wearing the national team’s jersey.

Ahead of the round of 16 clash, Balor took to X/Twitter and uploaded an edited flag of Mexico, but with a small twist. In place of the red of Mexico, it had the orange of Ireland. This was likely his way of showing that Mexico feels like home.

He later put out another tweet with one word:

“Kayfabe,” he wrote.

However, unfortunately for Finn Balor and the Mexican fans, their team lost to England 3:2 in the knockout game, with the host nation crashing out of the tournament as their long wait continues.

Finn Balor Tells Cody Rhodes Why He Moved To SmackDown

On the latest edition of SmackDown, former Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes ran into Finn Balor backstage. Rhodes had just secured a number-one contender’s match against Jey Uso for the chance to challenge the reigning champion, Sami Zayn.

Balor looked at The American Nightmare and let him know that the reason he had come to SmackDown was to be able to challenge him for the world title. He told the former champion to go and get his gold back, after which Rhodes nodded and walked away.

Balor was then approached by Tama Tonga, who declared his intent to go after him. Moments later, The Prince was taken out by the monstrous Talla Tonga.

It remains to be seen what is next for Balor on WWE SmackDown with the Tongans now breathing down his neck.
