Over a decade ago, Valve comissioned short documentaries profiling some of the game’s best players as part of the celebration of Counter-Strike at the Majors.
These player profiles were eventually dropped by Valve, although others, such as FACEIT at the London Major, took it upon themselves to create similar player profiles.
Now, ESL is presenting the newest iteration of player profiles at the IEM Cologne Major, with Falcons’ Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov as the first subject.

The short documentary goes back to when the star AWPer first started to play on his brother’s computer — the same brother who would later go on to help convince his parents to let a young m0NESY pursue a career in CS —, to his family life at home with his parents and grandmother, whom he calls “his legend.”

From the first contract with NAVI Junior to joining G2 and meeting Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, or playing against his idol, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, on stage at IEM Katowice in 2022, and then winning the legendary event in Poland in 2023, the documentary lets m0NESY and those close to him narrate his story from a childhood obsession with Counter-Strike to becoming one of the best players in the world.
