The Metro series has undergone countless changes over the years, with numerous iterations of games like Metro 2033 getting better with each upgrade. Although there are still some who prefer the original variants, the enhanced versions improve on almost every aspect of the experience.

As if the Redux releases weren’t enough, the developers of the Metro series are bringing us another edition of both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux through a next-generation update. As announced on the official MetroVideoGame X account, the updates bring a heap of new features that offer the perfect chance to jump into the iconic post-apocalyptic franchise for the first time, or revisit with another unforgettable playthrough.

Everything Included In Metro’s Next-Gen Update

To celebrate the franchise having sold a total of 50 million copies, the two next-generation updates are being offered entirely free for anyone who owns Metro 2033 Redux or Metro Last Light Redux, meaning all you have to do is update the game to get access to the new editions on October 22 for PC, and October 29 for consoles.

Given that the Metro franchise has been offered both for free or at ridiculously discounted prices, the legendary survival-horror series is one that is absolutely worth checking out if you’ve never had the pleasure to yourself, especially with these newest enhancements taking the already immersive experience to even greater heights.

These aren’t even all of the features coming with the enhanced editions either, with more being revealed closer to the actual release of the free update. Combined with the fact that a new sequel is on the way, replaying the series through the next-generation updates is also an excellent way to get caught up before the highly anticipated release of Metro 2039 next year.
