Legacy coach Alan “adrrr” Riveros gave his thoughts on the team’s surprise run to the semi-finals at EWC, the loss to Spirit and the upcoming third-place decider clash against Brazilian rivals FURIA.
On his thoughts about the match: ”It was an interesting series, wasn’t it? We started off on Dust2, and built up a 5-1 lead. Then, we were in a 5v4 situation, but unfortunately we didn’t convert, and from there they managed to seize momentum in the game, and things got complicated.
“I think the Ancient pick surprised them a bit. I don’t think they were expecting it. It’s a map we’ve practiced a lot, so we were confident—especially after a big victory against NAVI. It was a good game. We lost an eco, but it didn’t make much of a difference. The game was pretty even, and on CT we messed up a little bit, and it ended up costing us the game.
On the Paris run as a whole: “It exceeded expectations, especially after a roster change, right? We brought in try; he’s new, and I think he’s adapted really well. He’s been a big asset to the team, too. I think this gives us a taste of what’s to come. I think Legacy has been getting stronger and managing to compete in big tournaments and make it to the semifinals and finals. This is shaping us so we can establish ourselves soon, right? I think a lot of people, a lot of teams, still see us as underdogs, but I think that in the future, they’ll come to understand that we’re here to stay.”
On the bronze match against FURIA: “Unfortunately, today’s result wasn’t good. It’s a bit sad, but there isn’t much time to dwell on it. Tomorrow, we will be facing FURIA very early in the morning. It’s worth points, money, morale, and it’s a showdown for the Brazilian fans. And it’s going to be interesting. I don’t know how they’ll be approaching this game, but for us, it will mean a lot.”
