Flavio Cobolli reveals how his practice session with Jannik Sinner went after training with injured star recently

Sinner remains atop the ATP rankings, but his status as world number one is now under threat from Zverev after the German’s triumph at the US Open. Zverev is less than 2000 points behind Sinner and can leapfrog him by the end of the season should results go his way.

Sinner has been preparing for his return in Monte Carlo, where he recently had a training session with compatriot Flavio Cobolli. Roland Garros runner-up Cobolli is in London this weekend to represent Team Europe at the Laver Cup.

Ahead of his appearance at the ninth edition of the annual team event, Cobolli was asked about his time practicing with Sinner in an interview with Super Tennis TV. “We joked around a lot,” replied the 24-year-old, who has recorded the best season of his career in 2026.

“It was really nice to find him again on the court. Every time I have the occasion, I try to get the most out of the hours we play together. He’s one of the people who teaches me the most; I am always up for it when it comes to training with him”

Cobolli is making his third straight appearance at the Laver Cup, having made his tournament debut in 2024, when Team Europe denied Team World a three-peat. He will not be in action on day one of the event, which is headlined by a doubles match featuring Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik going up against the duo of Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.

Team Europe will be led by captain Yannick Noah and vice captain Tim Henman, while Andre Agassi and Pat Rafter are assuming those respective roles for Team World.
