The Golden State Warriors have issued a statement on Kristaps Porzingis.
Kristaps Porzingis will be playing no part for the Golden State Warriors when their season begins, and he won’t even be present with the team.
Porzingis was ruled out indefinitely with a mystery illness, and this has led to a fresh wave of speculation on his future.
The Warriors have now put out a statement clarifying their position: “In response to today’s media report regarding Kristaps Porzingis, we are not going to comment on trade speculation or reports regarding his health-related matter or future.
“As noted last week, conversations between the Warriors, Kristaps and his representatives will remain private.
“We are not anticipating Kristaps being around the team in the immediate future. We’ll provide additional updates when available and appropriate.”

The Porzingis trade claims
ESPN had claimed the Warriors were exploring a way to trade Kristaps Porzingis. Their report also stated that the Latvian is ‘exploring his future in basketball’.
With Porzingis considering his own future in the game, the Warriors task of trading the center is even tougher. They would essentially be looking at a salary dump.
Back in June, the Warriors handed Porzingis a two-year $40 million contract extension, although only $3 million is guaranteed in year two.
It is still a terrible deal for the Warriors, with no guarantee that Porzingis plays at all this season.
They are light at center, also dealing with backup Charles Bassey being ruled out of their season opener with an injury. Al Horford will line-up as a starter.
The Warriors statement on Porzingis is an attempt to take the sting out of the situation. They don’t want the Porzingis saga in the headlines, as it reflects poorly on them – but it is also a private health matter that the player needs to resolve.
There is no quick fix either. Porzingis’ illness stems back to his time with the Boston Celtics in 2025. He was later traded to the Atlanta Hawks, and then onto the Warriors last season.
