German retail worker u/IseeIceTea has shared photos of a physical GTA 6 copy to Reddit, revealing a new Lucia screenshot and a few interesting details. Most notably, that the game will have “online functionality” and “in-game purchases.”
This doesn’t mean that GTA Online will launch day and date, as Rockstar have already confirmed that the game is a “single-player experience,” but combined with in-game purchases, this could be hinting at an online store with microtransactions—potentially through the faux internet. But that’s just speculation.
Online functionality simply means features that require an internet connection, not strictly multiplayer, which could be as elaborate as an in-game store or as mundane as Social Club integration, cloud-based saves, and an online leaderboard. Translating the box doesn’t give us any details, so right now it’s anyone’s guess.
Does The GTA 6 Physical Edition Come With A Map?
Rockstar previously confirmed that GTA 6 won’t launch with a physical map like with past games, and that you’ll need to buy or download one separately. Still, commenters were curious, and asked u/IseeIceTea what exactly was inside.
“I don’t think so,” they said of the map. “I work in retail so I can’t open it. I can’t hear anything when I shake it and the cover won’t let light through from a flashlight. There could be a map inside but I can’t say for sure.”
German electronics store MediaMarkt, which has over 1,000 locations across Europe, also shared a photo of the GTA 6 physical edition on its Instagram. It didn’t show the back of the box or its contents, but it did showcase a poster of Lucia that appears to come with the code.
So, from the box alone, we have a new Lucia screenshot, a first look at the accompanying poster, and confirmation of “online functionality” and “in-game purchases,” sending the community speculating on what exactly that means for a single-player game.
There’s a lot to unpack, but we’ll find out soon enough what it all means when GTA 6 launches in under two weeks on November 19.
