Carlos Alcaraz has become the third man to qualify for the 2026 ATP Finals.

Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner have all now qualified for the end of year event in Turin, Italy.

Sinner triumphed at the 2025 tournament, defeating Alcaraz in the final.

If Alcaraz competes at the 2026 event, the occasion will mark his fourth consecutive ATP Finals appearance.

How did the Spaniard perform in his first three appearances?

Carlos Alcaraz’s ATP Finals record

Alcaraz first qualified for the ATP Finals in 2022, but was unable to participate due to an internal oblique muscle tear in his left abdominal wall.

Alcaraz made his debut at the event in 2023 as the second seed behind Novak Djokovic.

In the group stage, Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev, and lost to Alexander Zverev.

These results were enough to see Alcaraz qualify for the semi-finals.

The youngster’s hard work was quickly undone by Novak Djokovic, who triumphed 6-3, 6-2 in the last four.

In 2024, Alcaraz struggled to make a significant impact on the tournament.

  • 2023: semi-finals
  • 2024: group stage
  • 2025: runner-up

The Spaniard lost two of his three round robin matches: beating Andrey Rublev and losing to Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud.

Consequently, Alcaraz exited the tournament in the group stage.

Alcaraz bounced back emphatically in 2025, defeating Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, Lorenzo Musetti and Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach his first final at the ATP Finals.

Jannik Sinner ended Alcaraz’s dreams of a first ATP Finals title, triumphing 7-6, 7-5 in the showpiece event.

“I am really happy with the level I played today,” Alcaraz said after collecting his runner-up trophy.

“He [Sinner] is someone who has not lost a match on an indoor court for two years now, so that means how great a player you are.

“Putting in great work with your team every time. You come back even stronger after every loss, you don’t have many. A well-deserved final.”

“We are individual athletes but without my team, this is not possible. Celebrating this trophy at the end of the year after such an intense last couple of months, there is no better ending.

“It was a very, very close match. I saved a set point in the first set and I am extremely happy with how I handled the situation and it means the world to me.”

The ATP Finals is one of six significant events Alcaraz is yet to win.

The titles absent from Carlos Alcaraz’s resume

  • Canadian Open
  • Shanghai Masters
  • Paris Masters
  • ATP Finals
  • Olympic Games
  • Davis Cup

Alcaraz could eliminate three of those tournaments by the end of this year.
