Olives are plentiful in Romestead, but what are you actually meant to do with them? They don’t produce much food, and although you can donate olives to Ceres, the return on your time is very poor if this is how you choose to level her up. Instead, you should focus on turning your olives into olive oil, a valuable material that can be sold at the trader for big profit.
However, this process is a little convoluted. You first need to unlock the dolium via quests for the gods, collect olives, turn the olives into paste, then use the pottery workshop to make empty pots, and so on. Here’s how it all works.
Where To Find Olives
There are olives literally everywhere in Romestead. You can find them on olive trees that grow across the plains biome. These grow back quickly, and you can collect them easily.
Early on, I used the bounty of olives to get the first couple of levels for Ceres who accepts olives as a donation.
If you chop down an olive tree, you will get an olive seed. This allows you to plant olive groves around your town.
How To Make Olive Oil
Olive Paste
Once you’ve acquired olives, you can use the Manual Mill to grind the olives into olive paste. You will need to manually turn the mill by running into the spokes. On its own, olive paste is largely useless.
To craft the Manual Mill you will need to build it via the workbench and carry over four stones.
Pottery
You will also need small pots which are crafted at the pottery workshop. To unlock the pottery workshop, you will need to complete the Sanguis Celeste quest for Vulcan which will have you exploring a nearby dungeon marked on your map to find the Crystalized Blood, which you then offer on the altar.
Then you can build a pottery workshop. You will need lumber, stone, and pottery, and a spare citizen to work there. Once you’ve got it up and running, you can turn clay into small pots.
Don’t forget to light the kiln outside using lumber.
Olive Oil Dolium
So you’ve got olive paste and small pots. All you need now is the Olive Oil Dolium. Build this in your town and then combine olive paste and small pots and, over time, it will turn into olive oil. You can then sell Olive Oil at the trader for 50 quadrans. A great way to make some spare cash for resources.
