Iga Swiatek becomes the youngest woman to win all five ‘big titles’ in North America
Swiatek has now won the five big North American titles in women’s tennis.

- Miami Open – 2022
- Canadian Open – 2026
- Cincinnati Open – 2025
- US Open – 2022
Doing so at 25, she became the youngest woman to win all five.
Swiatek won the Sunshine Double and the US Open in 2022, the Cincinnati Open last year, and has now added the Canadian Open to her resume.
The former world number one has won everything there is to win in North America, or has she?
To ‘complete’ tennis, Swiatek still needs to win four titles: the Dubai Tennis Championships, the Wuhan Open, the Australian Open, and the Olympics.
After winning bronze in Paris two years ago, Swiatek will next have an opportunity to win gold at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.
If she emerges victorious in LA, having won titles in Dubai, Wuhan, and Melbourne, before then, she will have won every big title there is.
Among her peers, she is likely to become the first player to do so.

Swiatek’s biggest rival, Aryna Sabalenka, is only 50% of the way through and still needs titles in Beijing, Canada, Rome, Dubai, Wimbledon, Paris, an Olympic gold medal, and to win the WTA Finals.
And the likes of Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, and Naomi Osaka aren’t even halfway there.
Swiatek still has work to do, but if anyone is going to accomplish this seemingly impossible task, it looks like she will be the one to do it.
What’s next for Iga Swiatek after Canadian Open win?
The world number eight won’t have long to celebrate her win, as she must now turn her attention to the Cincinnati Open.
Returning to defend her title, Swiatek has received a bye into the second round, where she will play either Emiliana Arango or the American tennis legend Venus Williams.
Swiatek would be a heavy favourite in either match-up.
Arango currently sits 97th in the world rankings and needed to win the qualifying tournament to reach the main draw.
And Williams hasn’t won a singles match in over a year, and at 46, looks like her best years have passed.
Assuming Swiatek avoids an almighty upset in round two, she would play Maria Sakkari or Kamilla Rakhimova in the third round.
Then in the last 16, she could meet Elise Mertens, Belinda Bencic, Diane Parry, or Lois Boisson.
Swiatek will fancy her chances of reaching the quarter-finals from that section of the draw, but it’s there that things get tricky.
She could play Rybakina in a Canadian Open final rematch in the quarters, Jessica Pegula, Alex Eala, or Amanda Anisimova in the semis, and Gauff, Elina Svitolina, Mirra Andreeva, or Sabalenka in the final.
If Swiatek is to defend her Cincinnati Open title, she will need to be at her very best.
The Pole will begin her Cincinnati Open campaign this weekend against Arango or Williams.
