Maja Chwalinska will still be on a high from her stunning run at the French Open, where she reached the final as a qualifier.

Chwalinska won nine matches at the clay-court Grand Slam in Paris, where she was eventually beaten by Mirra Andreeva.

The Pole enjoyed her best-ever run at a major tournament, after which Chwalinska thanked her fans for helping push her to the French Open final.

Her compatriot Iga Swiatek, who is a four-time winner of the event but lost in the fourth round this year, has now shared her reaction to the dream run.

Iga Swiatek shares her hope for French Open finalist Maja Chwalinska

Speaking to WP SportoweFakty, Swiatek said of her fellow WTA player: “It was an incredible tournament for Maja, a life-changing experience.

“The most important thing is the journey she’s taken.

“It’s a beautiful story because it shows how differently and at what different pace you can achieve success in sports.

“I’m so glad Maja reached the final and defeated top players.

“She had the opportunity to experience all the emotions that come with being a Grand Slam player, which is completely different compared to other tournaments.

“I watched every one of Maja’s matches except the final, because by then I’d already returned to training.

“I know how much Maja has been through, and I’m glad she’s changed her life thanks to the work she’s put in.

“It’s great that Maja has gained so much support.

“Tournaments like these change how people perceive a player.

“I hope it will have a positive impact on her.”

Wimbledon make fantastic Maja Chwalinska decision

Chwalinska earned various rewards for her efforts, including €1.4million in prize money and a huge rankings rise of 93 places to 21st.

And another very significant reward has just gone her way, with the Pole having just received a wildcard for Wimbledon.

Given the very competitive list of potential candidates, there were understandable doubts over whether she would receive one.

But Wimbledon organizers have made the correct call with the French Open finalist, who will be eager to enjoy a similar run in London.

She is one of seven players to have been confirmed for the eight available spots in women’s singles, with six British players receiving the other wildcards so far.

Harriet Dart, Alicia Dudeney, Hannah Klugman, Mika Stojsavljevic, Katie Swan and Mimi Xu have all been confirmed, with the final spot to be announced shortly.
