Jannik Sinner continues to build towards Wimbledon, where the Italian will be out to defend his title.

Sinner battled past Carlos Alcaraz in last year’s final, claiming his maiden title at the tournament and the fourth Grand Slam title of his stellar career so far.

But the ATP number one enters the prestigious event with a big question mark over his fitness, having really struggled in that area at the French Open.

Sinner failed to deal with the heat as he suffered a second round exit in Paris, which represents his most recent appearance on the court.

He is, however, now taking concrete steps in order to further understand the reasons behind his issues at the French Open.

How concerned are you about Jannik Sinner’s physical issues going forward in his career?

Jannik Sinner follows Novak Djokovic approach after French Open struggles

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sinner is currently practising with a glucose sensor on his left arm.

It is part of the monitoring procedure he is following after tests at San Raffaele Hospital, with his team eager to understand how his blood sugar levels function.

If necessary, doctors and nutritionists can then intervene and adjust Sinner’s diet accordingly to prevent his energy from running low, as it did in the French capital.

Notably, legendary tennis figure Novak Djokovic has previously adopted the same method in order to monitor his blood sugar levels.

And that is undoubtedly significant given that the Serbian is still competing at the very highest level at the age of 39.

Incidentally, after his French Open disappointment, Sinner is not playing an event before Wimbledon, just like Djokovic.
