Marvel Rivals Cheat Detection System Used To Deliberately Cancel Games

Marvel Rivals is pretty good at staying on top of cheating. For the most part, you rarely have people aimbotting in ranked matches, and the game’s cheater detection software is pretty good at finding someone mid-match and taking them out back. There’s a lot that is considered cheating though, and for a good week, there has been a discussion surrounding configs.

Using configs is a tricky debate. What they primarily do is make the game look far worse than what can be done using the built-in settings, removing textures and sometimes things as big as screen shake. For the innocents out there, it’s a measure to make sure the game actually runs well. For the less innocent, they do it to increase frame rate and steady aim for a competitive advantage.

Marvel Rivals has a pretty firm stance that configs are a bannable offense and are considered cheating, mostly because you have to actually tamper with the game’s files for them, but the debate amongst the game’s community has now taken a pretty drastic turn thanks to a new exploit some are using to avoid losing in ranked.

Marvel Rivals Players Are Manipulating The Cheater Detection System

First pointed out by a Twitter user called LytePk, it seems as though the cheater detection system is so aggressive that it will actually cancel a match if someone installs configs in the middle of a game. Because of this, many people are now reporting that people on losing teams are now intentionally installing configs and getting matches canceled in order to avoid losing a match.

Another player called Fumiata ran into a similar issue. In the video they shared on Twitter, you can see a player briefly disconnect during a spawn hold, then reconnect, only for the game to be canceled almost immediately after they come back. The theory is tha they dipped, installed configs, jumped back into the match again, and then got it canceled to avoid losing.

It’s not an isolated issue either. You have multiple people on Twitter explaining that this has happened to them multiple times while streaming, and some even catching it happening on video.

These same people are also reporting that the individuals getting games canceled are receiving zero punishments as well, meaning they can do this as many times as they like without repercussions. It’s a nasty little trick, and definitely something that NetEase will need to crack down on if it doesn’t want its ranked experience to turn into complete chaos.
