Max Griffin’s run in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has come to an end.

Indeed, the 19-fight Welterweight veteran announced today (Thurs., May 28, 2026) that he’s been released from the promotion after losing three straight fights.

“I have been officially cut from the UFC,” Griffin said on his Instagram. “First off, I want to thank UFC for all these years. Ten years, mind you, in the fight business. Thanks to my friends, my family, my fans — everyone I’ve developed friendships over the years, it has let me do so much and open up so many doors. But my shit ain’t over. I still want to fight.”

“My last few fights have been some shoddy decisions,” Griffin added. “It’s the name of the game, baby. I heard the news a little while ago, and it wasn’t for sure, but it’s business, man. Yeah, it’s rough, but it is what it is. I still want to fight, I still want to whoop n-ggas asses for money. I still got it…. Shoutout to God. My story isn’t over, it’s just turning the page.”

Griffin (20-13) made his UFC debut in 2016 against Colby Covington, suffering a third-round stoppage loss. He bounced back in his next appearance by knocking out Erick Montaño, though that would end up being one of just three finishes during his UFC tenure, as the majority of his fights went the distance.

Over the course of 19 Octagon appearances, Griffin shared the cage with several notable names, including Thiago Alves, Carlos Condit, Mike Perry, and Michael Morales. Among his biggest victories were wins over Condit and Perry.

Griffin exits the UFC with an 8-11 record and leaves behind a reputation as one of the division’s toughest veterans, having spent nearly 10 years competing against some of the Welterweight division’s bigger names.
