“0–6 and the play-caller keeps his job. Mike McDaniel has better protection than Justin Herbert,” wrote a fan.
“Good! Because it’s not his fault that Herbert throws to the other team,” wrote another fan.
“Dumb decision. That is decision because Harbaugh cant admit a mistake,” wrote a fan.
“We’ll see how that works out, but after the play calls in the Chiefs game not especially hopeful they learned anything,” wrote a fan.
“Him being trash is one of the last things I had on my bingo cards this season,” wrote another fan.
The Chargers have averaged a league-worst 15 points after six games under McDaniel this season. They have one of the worst offenses in the league this year, which has severely dented their postseason chances.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert defends Mike McDaniel
Although the Chargers offense has underwhelmed in 2026, inviting criticism for offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert defended the under-fire OC.
“It’s not his fault. It’s our fault as an offense,” Herbert said. “We have to do our job. It’s not Mike’s fault. The guys are open. Plays are being made. It’s on us to run, to block, to catch, to throw. It’s on us as an offense.”
The Chargers are up against the Los Angeles Rams in their Week 8 clash on Sunday.
