MOUZ march on to the semi-finals
MOUZ have locked up a spot in the ESL Pro League Season 24 semi-finals following a quick 2-0 victory over FURIA, securing their fourth consecutive clean sheet in Katowice.
It was a rematch of the Swiss stage’s round 2 match, with a completely different veto. FURIA were more competitive this time, though they will rue three wasted pistol conversions, two of them on their Nuke pick, which went the distance.
“Coming into today, confidence was in the camp, for sure,” Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás said in the post-match interview.
“We had really good preparation because of the veto. I think sycrone had a really good read on the veto.”
Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo’s troops have little time to lick their wounds, as they will be travelling to Malta shortly to play at the Thunderpick World Championship, where they have been placed in Group B alongside Legacy, PARIVISION and BETBOOM.
Oldřich “PR” Nový and Lotan “Spinx” Giladi combined for 23 frags as MOUZ controlled the first half of Nuke, denying FURIA any momentum, though the Brazilians’ four rounds were enough to keep a comeback within reach.
The second half began with a 1v4 clutch attempt from Adrian “xelex” Vincze, who was struck by nerves when planting the bomb after getting three fantastic kills. He made up for that blunder in the following round with two Galil kills as MOUZ hit back on a force-buy.
With no margin for error, FURIA surged once their economy recovered, but MOUZ found openings on two occasions and sealed the win in the final round of regulation.
MOUZ took Inferno by the scruff of the neck and strolled to a 6-2 lead on the T side before FURIA hit back with three in a row to keep the scoreline competitive.
The Brazilian side closed to within a round after a flawless pistol, but the next conversion attempt slipped away and MOUZ responded with a 6-0 run to wrap up the game.
