Gentle Mates in negotiations to sell roster; set to leave Counter-Strike
After being acquired by the French organization in 2025, Gentle Mates’ Spanish squad fought hard for a spot at IEM Cologne, brawling in the tier-two circuit and even securing a good position in the VRS ranking early on in the season, but fell just short after a spell of inactivity was followed by poor results at crucial events leading up to the Major.
During their time as M8s, the team won IstanbuLAN and came in second at Radio Popular Roman Imperium Cup II, Roman Imperium Cup V, and LORGAR RANKINGS Season 1. They also finished top four at Perfect World CS Challenge Series 2, StarLadder StarSeries Fall, and Roman Imperium Cup III.
They couldn’t hit their stride at a higher level, however, falling in the group stages at the notable events they attended: PGL Astana, IEM Rio, ESL Pro League, and PGL Bucharest.
The former Gentle Mates players, after the departure of Antonio “MartinezSa” Martinez to HEROIC during the off-season, are playing with Joey “CRUC1AL” Steusel as a stand-in and with Daniel “djL” Narancic offering his services as a coach. Eloy “deLonge” Suárez, their former skipper, recently announced his free agency.
Now, back under the Iberian Soul tag, they are fighting for a spot at the Esports World Cup through its open qualifier on LAN.
