Just how unlikely is this run by Oklahoma? The Sooners had a losing record in the SEC, at 14-16, and they had only one series win against a team that reached the NCAA Tournament — Texas A&M in the first weekend of conference play. OU’s other three series wins came against three of the four SEC teams that didn’t reach the postseason, LSU, Vanderbilt and Missouri.
The Sooners opened the season with three wins over Big 12 teams at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown in Arlington, Texas, but only one of the opponents, Oklahoma State, made the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners’ only other nonconference win vs. an NCAA team was a midweek win over Arizona State.
