Ever since it was released back in 2025, Peak has been dominating friend groups everywhere thanks to its unique co-op gameplay premise and incredibly replayable gameplay loop. Although Peak has already been getting more attention recently thanks to being included in the Steam Tiny Teams event sale, the award-winning indie game recently announced Peak will be concluding with its final update.
While it’s sad to see the end of such an iconic co-op game, the teaser trailer for the final Peak update posted to the official Aggro Crab YouTube channel already promises to offer the biggest update that Peak has seen since its release over a year ago.
Peak Is Getting A Massive New Update This Week
Scheduled to launch next week on August 11, the surprise update will introduce not only one, but two new biomes for you to explore either solo or alongside a friend in the form of the Gloom and The Citadel variants. Replacing Caldera and The Kiln in the biome rotation, respectively, the two new maps can only be played back to back as opposed to being randomly connected like traditional biomes.
While we only have the short teaser to go off of for now, the maps seem to consist of a misty open expanse for The Gloom, while offering an entirely vertical tower filled with ladders, traps, and other hazards for the warmer-looking Citadel. In addition to the two maps, Peak also teased the return of a familiar Scoutmaster for you to encounter as well.
More Secrets Are Still Waiting To Be Discovered
Although you can expect the same additions of new items, achievements, and cosmetics to arrive alongside the newest update, one of which seems to be a mysterious Bing Bong-shaped medallion that could possibly turn players to stone, one of the most exciting aspects of the trailer comes from the tease right at the end.
Throughout the entire announcement trailer for the GOTY-winning Peak update, we can hear a fully voiced version of the original Scoutmaster agonizing over his fate of being trapped on the island before ending with the extended ghoulified hand of the in-game Scoutmaster reaching over the top of the final mountain peak.
Aside from players freaking out that Scoutmaster Myers has an official voice played by Xalavier Nelson Jr., creator of Strange Scaffold game studio, the trailer has been met with plenty of speculation and excitement from fans. From theories that we might finally get to fight Scoutmaster Mysers or even rescue him from the mountain after so long, there seems to be plenty of reasons to be excited for Peak‘s final update when it drops later this month.
