Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley answered Payton Talbott’s callout in the Octagon at UFC 332 following his latest win.
UFC bantamweight contender Payton Talbott earned the biggest win of his young MMA career last weekend at UFC 332. Just minutes into his fight with former flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo, Talbott finished the action by brutal TKO.
It was a statement performance from Talbott in the UFC 332 co-main event, and UFC CEO Dana White teased big things for Talbott’s next fight. A matchup with former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley, who Talbott called out in his post-fight interview, is a possibility for both parties.
After Talbott’s viral post-fight callout, it didn’t take long for O’Malley to hit back at the promising star.
Sean O’Malley: Payton Talbott ‘made up’ UFC White House offer
During a recent episode of The Suguru Show, O’Malley answered Talbott’s callout and ducking allegations.
“He called me Spider-Man; that was kind of nice of him…with the ducking allegations, I didn’t get offered Payton Talbott at the White House,” O’Malley said of Talbott.
“I think he made it up. I don’t think he ever got offered me; I couldn’t imagine them offering someone a fight before asking the ‘A-side’…he called me out, and that sounds good. If Petr [Yan] goes out there and loses, let’s squabble, me and Payton. If Petr wins, I’m ducking him for a tougher fight. Ducking him for Petr Yan…
“Four of my last seven fights, I fought four of the greatest bantamweights of all time. Petr, Aljamain, Merab, and I beat Merab once,” O’Malley continued. “I ain’t ducking!”
O’Malley hasn’t fought since knocking out Aiemann Zahabi at UFC Freedom 250 earlier this year at the White House. The former champion is a potential opponent for the Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili 3 winner, in addition to a potential clash with Talbott.
