Steam is already on the verge of breaking another major sales record for the seventh year in a row, but that isn’t stopping the platform from slowing down when it comes to its regular free offerings. On top of the countless demos and free games regularly added to the platform, PC players are in for a treat with this newest offering that you can add to your library and keep forever without paying a dime.
Made by the indie developer behind the legendary fourth-wall-breaking deck-building horror game Inscryption (that I would highly recommend checking out if you haven’t already), comes the creator’s first game, Pony Island, which currently has a 95% positive rating on Steam.
You’ll Have To Act Fast To Claim This Steam Freebie
With the deal only lasting until October 12 at 10:00 AM PST, even if you are unsure about the experience or have never heard of it before, there are no downsides when it comes to claiming the game for yourself, which has already received thousands of raving reviews over the years praising its unique puzzles and suspense-driven psychological horror.
Despite not looking like much at first glance, the real draw of Pony Island comes from the meta-narrative style that the creator has become so iconic for at this point. Despite being a relatively short story that can be beaten in just about three hours, Pony Island is still a unique indie horror experience that leaves an unforgettable impression, while also helping set you up for its upcoming sequel.
Arriving Just In Time For The Sequel
Pony Island’s free Steam download also arrived at the same time as the newest trailer for Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, which is still scheduled for release on April 27, 2027.
The latest playtest trailer posted to the official Daniel Mulins Games is somehow even faster-paced than the original, with gameplay shifting from a first-person medieval RPG, arcade-style puzzle games, point-and-click adventures, alongside numerous other genres all spliced together in what looks to be another mind-bending adventure.
You also might recognize some of the live-action actors in the game as well, who are played by some familiar influencers like Arian Moayed, Caitlin Reily, Kevin Saxby, and Sun Won Cho as the main antagonist. If you are interested and don’t feel like waiting, you can also sign up for the official Playtest on the Pony Island 2 Steam Page, or check out some of Steam’s other free games in the meantime.
