The only downside to the latest free deal first spotted by GameRant is that you won’t actually be able to claim it from within Steam itself, as the offering is being given out by a third-party platform that will require a few extra steps before you’ll be able to jump into its GOTY-winning narrative.
Steam Gamers Will Have To Act Fast For This Free Game
Offered as a giveaway by Lenovo Legion Gaming, Steam users will be able to claim a free code for Telltale’s first The Walking Dead game on August 19, which can then be activated through Steam to add the game to your library entirely for free.
Once you’ve created or signed in to your Lenovo Legion Gaming account, you’ll be able to enter the Steam key giveaway at 10:00AM PST/1:00 PM EST, where each user will have 10 minutes to claim their code and redeem it on GamesPlanet before losing their spot in line. Despite being called a giveaway, it isn’t based on random chance like usual, with the only caveat being that there are only a limited number of Steam keys.
You’ll have need to have spent at least $5 on your Steam account in the past in order to claim the free code.
Thankfully, with how old and how often The Walking Dead has gone on sale in the past, there won’t be as much competition as if it were a newer triple-a release, making it far easier to grab a code for yourself if you have never had the pleasure of experiencing the unforgettable storyline that made it one of the best post-apocalyptic horror games ever made.
The Walking Dead Is Still Worth Playing All These Years Later
Whether you’ve played The Walking Dead on consoles in the 14 years since its release or have never had the chance to check it out for yourself, Telltale’s take on the zombie-survival franchise is still one of the studios’ best, which also opens the door to experiencing the rest of the series that already goes on massive discounts fairly often.
