The Witcher 3 DLC Is Seemingly Adding A New Love Interest For You To Ignore

It’s been a good week for The Witcher fans. At Gamescom Opening Night Live, we not only got our first proper look at the upcoming expansion, Songs of the Past, but were also told that The Witcher 3 is getting a full remaster – free to anyone who owns the game already.

This makes a whole lot of sense, since it’s been over ten years since The Witcher 3 dropped. Many of us would be picking it up again for the first time in years to re-familiarise ourselves with the game ahead of the DLC, and it would have been fairly jarring to go from something made more than a decade ago, straight to an expansion launched all these years later.

Now, we have an even better look at Songs of the Past’s gameplay, courtesy of a livestream from CD Projekt Red. Here, we meet a new character, a woman called Lilla. All we know right now is that she is Dandelion’s cousin, and she has a rebellious streak. Naturally, the devs have already been asked if she will be a love interest – and they’re not saying no.

The Witcher 3’s DLC Is Almost Definitely Giving Us Yet Another Love Interest

This came up during Eurogamer’s preview of the game, in which there was an option to hug Lilla. One of the devs said they wouldn’t, because they’re Team Yen. They were then asked directly if this means Lilla is romanceable, to which Fool’s Theory CEO Jakub Rokosz said, “We want players to experience this on their own. We don’t want to spoil anything.”

So, that pretty much settles it – Geralt can almost definitely hook up with Lilla. What is amusing to see is how many players will not be doing that.

I have to respect it. I don’t think we have ever seen a fanbase so unified on their love interest of choice. I suppose it helps that Geralt and Yennefer are just made for each other, both in and out of the game’s version of events. Hell, whenever I’ve spoken to someone from CDPR about it, they’re also Team Yen.

Songs of the Past will launch next year. We’ll have to wait and see if everyone does indeed stay loyal to Yen when the expansion is in our hands.
