Turkey were stunned by a 2-0 defeat to Australia, while Paraguay were thumped 4-1 by hosts USA.
However, there’s still two games remaining, meaning both sides still have a shot at qualifying from the group stages.

A lot of pundits and professionals backed Turkey as their dark horses for this year’s tournament.
Yet, they really flattered to deceive in their opening fixture against Australia, when they were beaten 2-0.
Similarly, Paraguay had developed a solid reputation during a qualifying campaign in which they beat Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay among others.
However, they were comfortably beaten by the USA and looked like a bit of a soft touch in the process.
Whoever wins will need to drastically improve from their opening day performance, especially if they have any hopes of making the knockout stages.
The bookies have gone with Turkey as their favourites, but Paraguay can be stubborn and if they can rediscover the defensive solidity that earned them qualification, then they could trouble their opponents.
Either way, with both sides looking to avoid a second defeat, a cagey start is very likely.
