Here’s what Zheng Qinwen said in her on-court interview after defeating Iga Świątek for a spot in the U.S. Open quarterfinals.
💬 “Honestly, I have to say, I started the match not so well and after a little bit I found my rhythm. It’s been a long, long time since I played on the center court. I really appreciate being here in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
“Second, I just focused point by point and little by little I started to play better tennis, I started to find my game and in one moment I even forget the score in the first set at 4-5 — that shows how focused I am. I guess to come back again from 0-5, that’s not lucky.
“The more matches I play, the more rhythm I get on court. People often ask me if I’m tired — when I arrived here I wasn’t tired at all, I just felt really pumped for my next match, trying to reach a better level, trying to show my tennis and enjoy this fantastic stadium.”
