Despite Ubisoft having just come off the heels of the incredibly well-received Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the studio’s most recent release has been getting bombarded with negative reviews and complaints from fans. Although Ubisoft games don’t always tend to release in the most optimized states, the latest release has been receiving some especially brutal complaints so far for more than just the usual reasons.

Even with years of preparation and plenty of excitement from players over the new release acting as a successor to one of Ubisoft’s most successful shooter franchises, even diehard fans have been agreeing that Ubisoft’s free-to-play PC port is nowhere near what players expected from the game.

Ubisoft’s Latest Release Isn’t Doing Too Hot

Despite having already been released on mobile platforms several months ago, the recent PC port of The Division Resurgence is currently sitting at a mixed review rating on Steam, as noted by Pirat_Nation on X. Some players have even gone as far as to describe the free-to-play mobile port as having a “scummy” amount of microtransactions that are egregious “even for a F2P” game.

While players on Steam have still been praising the game for its “genuinely fun to play free-to-play” offerings, even the quality of The Division’s atmospheric setting hasn’t been able to make up for the numerous launch issues, performance problems, and the abundance of microtransactions for most players.

Even putting aside the fact that several players have reported they can’t even make the game run “past the title screen”, the in-game menus and UI have received very few changes from the mobile version of the game, leading many players to slam the PC port for The Division Resurgence as being a significant downgrade from its original predecessors.

The Division Resurgence Still Has Some Potential

With some microtransactions costing more than the original predecessors, many fans are begging any interested players to simply check out The Division 2 or even the original Division rather than risking getting put off from the series by its free-to-play spinoff.

Even with the predominantly negative reviews, however, there is no shortage of fans who are still eager to suggest trying out the game for yourself to see if you can make it past some of the obstacles stopping other fans from enjoying the game, or waiting to see if future updates can fix some of the more glaring issues tied to the PC port.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced players are furious over all the DLC and how much of it isn’t even in the Deluxe Edition.

While it’s ultimately up to you whether or not you’re willing to try and look past the flaws of The Division Resurgence to get to what some fans have controversially described as a “truly amazing” game, the mixed PC port is at the very least bringing attention to the beloved third-person shooter series ahead of its upcoming sequel, The Division 3.
