Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues to trim its expansive roster of mixed martial arts (MMA) talent.
Today (Tues., May 26, 2026), it was revealed that two fighters have been removed from UFC’s active roster, meaning they were either released from their contracts or the promotion opted not to renew them.
Roster Watch first reported the removals.
The two fighters who lost their jobs are Jesus Aguilar and Austen Lane.
Just five days later, he no longer has a spot on the roster.
Aguilar earned his UFC contract during Season 6 of Dana White’s Contender Series and immediately got thrown into the deep end against current Flyweight title contender Tatsuro Taira, losing via submission in his promotional debut.
However, the Mexican fighter bounced back nicely afterward by rattling off three straight victories, including a brutal 17-second knockout over Shannon Ross that quickly turned heads (watch highlights).
Unfortunately, the momentum did not last because Aguilar went just 1-2 over his last three appearances and most recently dropped a decision to Sumudaerji.
He exits the promotion with a respectable 4-3 UFC record.
As for Lane (13-8), the former NFL defensive end never truly found consistency inside the Octagon despite his ridiculous athleticism and size.
Lane’s lone UFC victory came against Robelis Despaigne, but outside of that upset win, nearly every one of his UFC appearances ended violently.
Earlier this year, Lane attempted a move down to Light Heavyweight in hopes of revitalizing his career, but the experiment lasted all of 28 seconds before Iwo Baraniewski knocked him out cold (watch highlights).
Lane officially leaves the UFC with a 1-5-1 record.
