Nine days before UFC Vegas 124 takes place at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, the fight card got a new main event. Former LFA Heavyweight Champion Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Johnny Walker meet in the headlining bout.
The event was originally headlined by a welterweight match but a staph infection forced Sean Brady to back out of the featured fight against Gabriel Bonfim. The news was first reported by Laerte Viana on Twitter. Bonfim is expected to be booked for a later date.
Cortes-Acosta (17-4) will enter the fight ranked No. 8 and looking to rebound from back-to-back decision losses to Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov. Walker (23-10, 1 NC) will be looking to build off the momentum gained by knocking out Mick Parkin at UFC 323 earlier this month. Walker’s ranked No. 12 in the heavyweight division.
Tatiana Suarez and Virna Jandiroba collide in the UFC Vegas 124 co-main event in a fight between two of the women’s strawweight top contenders.
