Wildcard beat FOKUS in three maps to win the BC Game Masters Championship Season 2 grand final in Vila Nova de Gaia, securing the $30,000 grand prize.
To get there, the Nemanja “nEMANHA” Đukić-led squad beat Inner Circle, Acend, and FOKUS before rematching the latter in the grand final.
The series kicked off on Inferno, where Wildcard had already beaten FOKUS 13-3 in the upper bracket final, and although the Europeans didn’t get beaten quite as bad on their pick this time around, a 9-3 lead at the half was more than enough for nEMANHA — who led the server with a 1.50 rating — and his teammates to close it out 13-7.
FOKUS retaliated on Dust2, Wildcard’s pick, where six T-side rounds for the American-majority squad weren’t enough as Sebastian “volt” Maloș, with a 2.07-rated T side, put FOKUS in charge to steal the map, 13-10, and stay alive.
FOKUS looked locked in as the Nuke decider got underway, winning five straight on the attack, but the tide shifted the second Wildcard found their footing and put their cards on the table with full buy rounds. Miłosz “mhL” Knasiak, with a 1.72 T-side rating, and Jadan “HexT” Postma right behind, with a 1.71, led the way to a 7-5 lead at the half.
After securing the second pistol round, Wildcard rushed to victory, allowing just a single round in the 13-6 map win that made them champions in Portugal.
