Four teams, one Swiss Stage place, and no room for a slow start. The Worlds 2026 Play-In draw has paired FURIA with MVK Esports and Cloud9 Kia with Karmine Corp, setting the opening routes for the October 15-18 best-of-five double-elimination bracket in Los Angeles.

The matchups were drawn on Saturday, October 10, after FURIA’s 3-2 loss to LOS in the CBLOL final, according to Strafe Esports. LOS takes Brazil’s direct Swiss berth, leaving FURIA to compete for the last Play-In ticket. The match order has not been confirmed.

Four teams, one unforgiving route

FURIA vs. MVK Esports opens one side of the bracket, while Cloud9 Kia vs. Karmine Corp forms the other first-round series. There were no seeding pots or regional restrictions in the draw, so any of the four teams could have been paired with any other.

Every series is a best-of-five, and the double-elimination format gives teams one chance to recover from a loss. The opening winners meet in the upper bracket; the losers drop to the lower bracket, where another defeat means elimination. The loser of that lower-bracket match finishes 19th.

Next, the upper-bracket loser faces the surviving lower-bracket team. That series decides who reaches the final qualifying match, while its loser places 18th. The last match sends its winner to Swiss and ends the loser’s Worlds run in 17th. Across four days, the bracket schedules six Bo5 series.

There is a small but meaningful advantage waiting at the finish line: the team reaching the final from the winners’ side gets the Right of Dual Selection for Game 1, choosing both side and pick order. In a long series, that extra control is no decorative rule.

The main event is still a long way off

The Play-In winner joins 15 teams already qualified for the 16-team Swiss Stage, which begins October 23 in Allen, Texas. From there, three wins earn a Knockout Stage place and three losses send a team home. Qualification through Los Angeles is only the first hurdle, but the bracket gives the winner no spare seatmate: one team advances, and three are eliminated.

The field also reflects different regional routes into Worlds. Karmine Corp are the LEC’s third seed, Cloud9 Kia the LCS third seed, and MVK Esports the LCP third seed; FURIA enters as CBLOL’s second seed after the final against LOS. Movistar KOI’s place among the LEC’s Worlds qualifiers offers another snapshot of how regional results feed into the tournament’s wider field.

Worlds runs from October 15 to November 14, with the final scheduled for Barclays Center in Brooklyn. For the four Play-In teams, though, the immediate task is simpler: win the opening Bo5, survive the bracket, and claim the only ticket out of Los Angeles.
