A massive Steel Cage Match took place on a WWE show tonight. Despite suffering a knee injury, a babyface star won the contest.
The latest episode of WWE NXT kicked off with a grudge match. Dion Lennox of DarkState locked horns with his former teammate, Saquon Shugars, in a Weaponized Steel Cage Match. The showdown was months in the making, as the heel faction backstabbed Shugars and kicked him out in May 2026. Since then, the former DPW Worlds Champion has been aiming to destroy the stable.

Saquon Shugars and Dion Lennox used numerous weapons, such as a steel chair, a baseball bat, and a trash can, to inflict pain on each other. During the bout, Lennox consistently targeted Shugars’ knee, aiming to damage it. At one point, the DarkState member even hit Shugars’ knee with a steel chair.
In the final stages of the contest, Saquon Shugars attempted a Sunset Flip Powerbomb on Lennox. Unfortunately for Shugars, his knee gave out during the sequence. However, he managed to recover and put a trash can on Lennox’s head, followed by a vicious Superkick.
Shugars ultimately climbed to the top of the cage and performed a Diving Crossbody on Lennox. He pinned the former NXT Tag Team Champion to win the contest. The 26-year-old hurt his knee during the bout, but he still managed to emerge victorious.
With the victory on WWE NXT, Saquon Shugars won the trilogy against Dion Lennox. Their first televised match took place at The Great American Bash, where Shugars reigned supreme. On the August 11 episode of the black-and-silver show, Lennox avenged his loss against Shugars. The former DarkState member bounced back tonight with a major triumph inside the steel cage.
It will be interesting to see what’s next for Shugars and Lennox in WWE NXT.
