Fans were given quite a scare this week on SmackDown when the match had to be called off due to an injury to WWE legend R-Truth.
Following the show, there has been an injury update on Truth; Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer noted that Truth was all right following the match.
Thanks for the submission!
“Don’t have any details other than Truth appears to be all right and will be evaluated next week. All the best to him on a quick recovery.” he stated.
Truth is a popular name on the SmackDown brand, and Damian Priest’s betrayal hit fans harder than expected; this latest injury sparked new fears.
The scary moment in the match came when Truth hit a missile dropkick and landed awkwardly, and the referee was then forced to run in and check on him. The referee then called for the bell and cancelled the rest of the match, declaring Priest the winner.
It’s unclear how much of the match was left at this point, but the referee decided to end it at that point and check on Truth.
R-Truth is a WWE legend
R-Truth has become a beloved member of the locker room throughout his time on SmackDown, and as a former Tag Team Champion, he appeared to have found someone on the same level as him.
At 54 years old, there was a belief that R-Truth would have been heading towards retirement a long time ago, but the former champion has been able to continue to wrestle at a high level despite his age.
It’s unclear how long he will be on the sidelines after it was revealed that the injury was legitimate, since his feud with Priest is far from over.
The two men had a lengthy reign as Tag Team Champions, but after they were unable to capture the AAA Tag Team Championships from the War Raiders a few weeks ago, Priest decided to turn his back on his friend and instead turn heel.
The story is far from over between the two men, and the injury will just add a new personal edge to the rivalry.
