YouTube and Twitch streamer Rachell “Valkyrae” broke down in tears and abruptly ended her 48-hour gaming livestream after she learned that her nephew had passed away. At the three-hour-36-minute mark of the livestream on October 11, 2026, while Valkyrae was playing R.E.P.O with other content creators, she appeared to have received a notification on her phone.
The content creator then turned off her livestreaming camera and disclosed that her nephew, who was two years younger than her, had died.
At the three-hour-46-minute mark of the gaming marathon, Valkyrae stated that she would be ending her livestream.
She elaborated:
“I think I have to end stream. I’m sorry, chat. I need to mute. Oh, my god, I can’t stream. Okay, my nephew passed away. And I can’t… I can’t, like, do anything because… I’m far. It’s my half-brother’s son. He was so young. He was only two years younger than me. I’m going to… I’m just going to keep playing, but I’m going to host… I’m so sad. Okay, I’m going to raid Miyoung, and I’m going to keep playing. But I just, like, I’m just really sad. But thank you…”

“Not gonna lie, this made me tear up, i lost my brother, and my father, I know how it feels to just hear sudden bad news like that. It’s shocking, you just going about your day with plans and goals, then suddenly you’re hit with the news you’ll never see someone ever again.” X user @naijirou wrote.

Valkyrae opened up about her brother’s death earlier this year
During a livestream in February 2026, Valkyrae disclosed that her brother, Mark, had died. She also opened up about her relationship with Mark, saying;
“He had a really bad alcohol problem, and he had passed away from alcohol. Yeah, so that was yesterday. I just felt really bad because I had, like, a lot of resentment towards him. We did not have a relationship. I was, like, kind of angry yesterday because my… he just didn’t treat my mom with respect. He did not like my mom.”
Valkyrae recently made headlines after revealing that she stayed awake until 7 AM to play Counter-Strike with GTA 5 RP streamer Arckon.
