Grand Theft Auto 6’s real-world promotional material, including a Cluckin Bell cup and Vice City foam fingers, are being resold for truly ridiculous prices.
As you no doubt know, we’re less than a month away from the long-awaited release of GTA 6, undoubtedly the biggest and most-anticipated video game in the world. It took a while to get going, but Rockstar really went all-out with marketing and has basically turned real-world Miami into one big advert for Vice City.
If you’re lucky enough to be in Miami, you’ll be able to see beach chairs and umbrellas with the game’s logo, billboards referencing in-universe brands, merchandise themed around Vice City, and even buy food and drink based on chains from GTA 6. Perhaps unsurprisingly, some of these items are already being resold on eBay, and some of them really raise an eyebrow.
You Can Bid On A Used Burger Shot Paper Bag For Over $150
GTA 6 Hype Really Is Something Else
While GTA 6’s marketing can be found all around Miami, the Kaseya Center is home to a lot of the merchandise that fans will want, as it both sells a lot of themed clothing and temporarily houses the Burger Shot and Cluckin’ Bell restaurants. As pointed out by Twitter user iShoTz, some of those items are already making their way onto eBay.
Let’s start off with one that at least makes some sense – the Vice City foam fingers. These very basic bits of merch are clearly quite desired, as one sold on eBay for $555, while another is currently being bid on for $300. There’s a more reasonable listing at $81, but I imagine that’s going to balloon up very soon.
Here’s where things get disgusting. One of the listings on eBay is for a greasy paper fry bag with the Burger Shot logo on it, which has somehow drawn 14 bids and is currently set to sell for over $150. That’s not the only gross example either, as a used Cluckin’ Bell cup is raking it in with more than 50 bids and a current price of nearly $250.
Outside of the wild hype for GTA 6, the main reason these items are going for so much is because they’re limited to Miami. If you’re from anywhere else in the world, you might pay big bucks to get a taste of that sweet, sweet marketing.
Of course, there’s a big difference between something being bid on and it actually being purchased, but it seems very likely that all of the above items will sell. Look, I’m as excited for GTA 6 as the rest of you, but if I ever get to the point that a smelly and greasy paper bag goes on my shelf, I might need a talking to.
