New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo drew criticism after attempting a backflip during his entrance at Fanatics Fest.
Deshaun Watson’s private quarterback coach, Quincy Avery, reshared a video of the stunt on X. The clip showed Skattebo walking onto the stage to the entrance music of WWE star Triple H before attempting a standing backflip. He failed to land cleanly, briefly losing his balance before getting back to his feet and celebrating with the crowd.
Thanks for the submission!
While he appeared unhurt, the moment raised concerns because he is still working his way back from a devastating leg injury. Avery criticised Skattebo’s antics.

“What an idiot,” Avery wrote on Sunday.

Skattebo’s rookie season ended prematurely after he suffered an open tibia fracture, a ruptured deltoid ligament and a dislocated right ankle.
The Giants are expected to rely heavily on Skattebo in 2026 after he flashed promise as a rookie. He finished his first NFL season with 410 rushing yards, 207 receiving yards on 24 catches and seven total touchdowns despite the injury-shortened campaign.

Cam Skattebo breaks silence after viral Fanatics Fest backflip sparks fresh injury concerns
Cam Skattebo responded after his botched backflip at Fanatics Fest sparked concerns of an ankle injury ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
Addressing the incident, the second-year running back reassured fans that he is healthy.
“I’m gonna address the elephant… I will NOT hurt myself before the season,” Skattebo said.
He also explained why the stunt did not go as planned.
“So what happened was, I don’t know if you guys know about WWE or not. Those floors are bouncy, so when I took off, I was mid-air like, ‘I’m not gonna land this, I’m way too high.'”
Skattebo added that the padded surface affected his landing.
“It had too much cushion, it wasn’t a stiff firm ground… I safely landed, got back up and was good to go. So nothing came out of that, I’m perfectly fine, nothing happened, we are good.”
With John Harbaugh, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy and assistant Greg Roman expected to build a run-heavy offense around him. Hence, Skattebo’s health remains one of the franchise’s biggest priorities.
