In our forums, one user is wondering if any golfers are gaming the Ping Chipr.

“I bought one when it first came out a few years ago and sold it, then bought another one and sold that one to. Now I’m thinking of picking one up again, but really need another fairway wood. It’s like when the wheels fall off then I’m ready to ditch it. Ha.”
Users shared their thoughts on the club, and the best way to incorporate one into a standard golf bag. Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- @596: “I have the Cleveland chipper. I’m still practicing with it. I’m a right handed golfer but I chip left handed. I carry a left handed pitching wedge. I bought the right handed Cleveland chipper to see if I could get close to my left handed chipping. So far….no.”
- @JohnKHawk: “I tried the Ping ChipR but for me it wasn’t lofted enough. Too much run out on chips. I still have an old Cleveland Niblick (circa 2011?) that I keep hanging around in garage in case I need to tag it in when I’m struggling with chipping. It has 49 degrees of loft which works out better for me.”
- BrokenSVT: “Naw, I’ve got a 4 hybrid. And a 5 hybrid. And a 6 hybrid. And a 7 hybrid. For when times call for them, that is. I chip with a wedge or an iron 99% of the time, but it’s nice to have the option of putting with a hybrid from the fringe or fairway.”
- @6thFairway: “Did I see a rumor that Ping is coming out with a pitching club (Ptch-r?) in 2027? I like the concept of the chipr, but I don’t mind just putting with my existing 9 iron, which serves the same purpose.”
