Take-Two Interactive is quickly nearing the end of the runway. The publisher has reiterated again and again that GTA 6 marketing will begin this summer, but with August now in full swing, there are only a few weeks left.
The most news we’ve had so far came in June when pre-orders went live and the $80 price tag was confirmed, alongside the controversial Ultimate Edition, when a treasure trove of GTA 6 screenshots were posted to the website. But that wasn’t exactly marketing, and it didn’ lead to the elusive third trailer fans have endlessly speculated over.
So, where’s GTA 6? There are just four weeks left for Take-Two and Rockstar to begin marketing. There have been little snippets of gameplay in the two trailers, sure, but we haven’t had a deep dive like with past games yet, which is exactly what everyone is waiting on tenterhooks for.
“In Due Time”
Take-Two Interactive has doubled and even tripled down on the November 19 date, and Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has said that the new release date “feels a little bit more real than fall 2025 did,” so it’s unlikely that the game will be pushed back to the holidays or 2027. Instead, it appears that when Take-Two said marketing would begin in the summer, it really meant that marketing would begin at the end of summer.
Indeed, when asked if there were any GTA 6 updates, reputable leaker NateTheHate responded, “It’s August. In due time we’ll get the update people seek.” So, the third trailer might be right around the corner. Summer isn’t over yet, after all. But considering that Take-Two has been promising that marketing will begin in the summer since as far back as spring, it’s hardly surprising that the very same community who got caught up studying lunar cycles are frustrated by the radio silence.
Then again, does GTA 6 even need marketing? Rockstar could shadow drop the game and it would still break records. Zelnick was asked that very question by investors, and he assured that “we need to market it” — even if it is the biggest game in history.
