Grand Theft Auto 6’s heavily contested Miami marketing campaign appears to have already started being prepped after getting approved earlier this week.
Considering GTA 6 is already the most-anticipated video game of all time and something that pretty much everyone knows about, you could make the case that it doesn’t need to be advertised at all beyond the trailers. As the Extended Reveal proved last month, though, marketing certainly isn’t hurting the game’s chances.
As was reported a few weeks ago, Rockstar and Take-Two were looking to go one step further and transform Miami into a real-world Vice City with some grand plans for a few key locations. Miami officials were initially opposed to the campaign, but approved it with a few stipulations, which appears to have allowed things to already be in motion.

It’s Certainly As “Discreet” As City Officials Wanted
Despite the plans having only been approved in the last few days with some notable changes to the original vision, it seems that Take-Two is already working to get it out there. As pointed out by dex3108 on ReseEra, Twitter user OfficialJoelF managed to get an aerial shot of a sign from the GTA 6 marketing campaign being set up behind Kaseya Center.
OfficialJoelF’s photo shows pieces of a pink and white sign that says “Welcome To VI”, in reference to both Vice City and GTA 6’s title. If you’re wondering why it’s just “VI” and not the full game name, that’s because one of the stipulations from the city of Miami was that the campaign had to be “discreet” and seemingly not mention Grand Theft Auto at all.
The marketing campaign also includes Vice City and VI being displayed on chairs and umbrellas. Like I said, discreet.
For any other game in the world, a “discreet” marketing campaign might be a bit of a deal-breaker, but for something as unbelievably huge as GTA 6, it doesn’t seem like it’ll really make that much of a difference. If anything, the subtle nature of the marketing actually makes it pretty unique, and it looks like we’ll be seeing more of it pretty soon if work is already underway.
