Sadly, the PlayStation Vita’s digital store is closing down. That means that plenty of games on the service are going to become unavailable, as they didn’t receive physical releases. However, they aren’t gone yet.

The store is still running, so you still have time to pick them up. Of course, though, you can’t pick up every single game on the service unless you’re rich. So, focus your attention on the following games that don’t have physical releases and aren’t on any console other than the PS3 – that system’s store is shutting down as well.

TXK

TXK is a fairly simple but captivating game where you play as a small ship that has to keep enemies from getting through a wireframe tube by blasting them out of the sky.

8 Rarest PS Vita Games And How Much They’re Worth

There’s quite a few rare and expensive PS Vita games.

There are power-ups and different enemies to keep things interesting. And it maintains that interest surprisingly well throughout the game. What helps it is the banging soundtrack that’s playing all the time. It’s hard to ever get sick of that.

Open Me!

A puzzle box in the AR game, Open Me.

Open Me! is an Augmented Reality game where you have to physically solve puzzle boxes. So, you need to move your Vita around to look at all sides of the box and move certain parts to open it.

It’s a nice use of augmented reality, and it’s implemented very well. Plus, the puzzle boxes themselves are well-designed and challenging. Overall, it’s a clever and unique game. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find many others like it.

Big Sky Infinity

Ships fighting in Big Sky Infinity.

Big Sky Infinity is a twin-stick shooter with some bullet hell elements. You control a spaceship and head to the right of the side-scrolling screen. Along the way, you encounter a bunch of enemies and their projectiles. This is where the bullet-hell element comes into play, since you have to dodge a lot of attacks

As with most games of this type, it can get quite hectic and fast-paced. This significantly adds to the entertainment factor, as do the colorful visuals and nice soundtrack.

Super Stardust Delta

Ship destroying enemies in Super Stardust Delta.

In Super Stardust Delta, you control a little ship that’s orbiting around a planet, protecting it from invading enemies. To stop the invaders, you must destroy them before they get to the planet.

This is easier said than done because you have different weapons that are more effective against particular enemies. So you have to keep switching between your weapons to be as effective as possible. And it’s hard to do that because foes are coming in pretty fast. It makes for a simple and fun game.

Murasaki Baby

The protagonist looking at another character in Murasaki Baby.

Forget all the face buttons and thumbsticks on the Vita, Murasaski Baby is an adventure game that doesn’t use any of them. Instead, you use the touch screen and rear touchpad to play the game.

The said game revolves around navigating a strange baby with a balloon through the world. You have to keep the balloon intact while completing puzzles and outthinking any enemies that come into your path.

Motorstorm RC

A bunch of cars racing around a track in Motorstorm RC.

Motorstorm RC was the final entry in the Motorstorm series, but it is a bit different from its predecessors. The main difference is shown in the title with the letters “RC.” This means the game includes RC cars instead of regular vehicles.

So, you control a little remote-controlled car and race around the track. The danger of flipping over is quite great, so you must be careful. It makes for a very satisfying arcade racing title that is enhanced further due to its nice soundtrack.

Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable

A group of players fighting a bunch of ants in Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable.

Since there are many Earth Defense Force games and another version of the title in question, it isn’t strictly necessary to get Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable before it’s gone. Yet, you can’t have too many Earth Defense Force games. Like every entry in the series, the gameplay is a little clunky, the visuals aren’t great, and it can be hard to know what’s going on.

However, as with the other instalments, there is a real charm to this game. It’s a third-person shooter where you take on hordes and hordes of giant monsters. Explosions and chaos are guaranteed every time, especially when playing with friends.

Men’s Room Mayhem

Multiple people in a bathroom in Men's Room Mayhem.

Some games are set in historically accurate recreations of Paris during the revolution; other titles take place in vast fantasy worlds beyond your wildest imagination; and Men’s Room Mayhem is set in a bathroom.

This quirky game is all about you directing people in a public bathroom, making sure they do their business and wash their hands before leaving. It’s simple at the start, but it can get wild later as more people arrive and fights break out. It’s a fun, humorous little game that stands out because of its unique concept.

Surge Deluxe

A bunch of colored blocks in Surge Deluxe.

Surge Deluxe is a fast-paced puzzle game in which you connect blocks of the same color to clear them from the screen and earn points. Once you’ve hit the target score, you pass the level.

The timer in each level is what makes it fast-paced and puts you under pressure. Like most puzzle games, it feels a little basic at first, but then starts to test your brain later. In the process, it gets very fun and fascinating

Frobisher Says!

Deliver Pudding minigame in Frobisher Says!

Every console with unique features has a tech demo-like game that makes use of many of those features. For PS Vita, one of those games is Frobisher Says!

It’s a game that lets you play a collection of fast-paced mini-games that use the Vita’s touchscreen, rear touchpad, mic, camera, and ability to tilt the screen by moving the console. It isn’t the deepest game you will ever play, but it’s a lot of fun and has an interesting art style. The game really makes the most of the Vita.
